Top 25: 21st century classics
We might only be fifteen years into the 21st century, but there’s no shortage of models already viewed as modern classics by enthusiasts.
Amazingly, despite this being a top 25, there are still plenty of New Millennium cars that we’ve had to leave out, including Ford’s Focus ST, Renault’s Clio V6 RenaultSport and Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution VIII. But don’t worry, as we reckon there’s plenty here to entertain most fans of up-and-coming classic metal.
Range Rover ‘L322’ (2002-2012)
Creating a new Range Rover is never an easy task, so iconic and revered is the brand. But when the third-generation model – codename ‘L322’ – went on sale in 2002, it was highly praised for its all-new look, its impressive driving style and its high standards of luxury. Using monocoque construction (a first for a Range Rover), the newcomer came with air suspension for superb ride quality and effortless off-road ability, plus a choice of petrol or diesel V8 powerplants. So accomplished was the ‘L322’, it remained on sale for a decade and won favour among luxury car buyers worldwide.
