Fiat Bravo/Brava (1995 – 2002) Review

Fiat Bravo/Brava (1995 – 2002) At A Glance

2/5

+Decent drive and very cheap. HGT is a nicely balanced hot hatch.

-Can have a few problems but not usually expensive to fix. Two star Euro NCAP rating.

Launched in 1995 to replace the ageing Tipo, the type 182 Fiat Bravo and Brava was Fiat’s small family car offering. The three-door Bravo was tuned for a sporty ride, while the five-door Brava was engineered for comfort.

While the underpinnings were the same, the styling was different – as were the colours available and the interiors. Top of the range was the HGT with its 2.0-litre 20-valve in-line five-cylinders that was good for 145bhp. Later updates saw this figure increase to 155bhp.

Voted European Car of the Year, the platform spawned saloon and estate versions that wore the Marea badge. At the time, reviewers were unsure about the ‘futuristic’ styling, but it’s helped the car age nicely.
