Car SOS tackles a Mk1 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Published 23 April 2015

The Car SOS boys have brought a Volkswagen Golf GTI back from the dead.

The 1982 MkI GTI belongs to trainee building surveyor James, a man who has been suffering from a debilitating headache for the last decade.

James was too ill to rebuild his beloved car so his family’s contacted the Car SOS team - Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend - to breathe new life into this 1980s icon.

But all those years in a damp garage hadn't been kind to the GTI, and when Tim and Fuzz get to work they found that this hot-hatch is a bit of a damp squib.

And that wasn't the only problem. Fuzz and ex-boy racer Tim had very different ideas of how the finished car should look.

Hi Honest.

I wonder if you could contact these two guys to pass on to the owner of the GTI, that a freind of mine has just got over stomach cancer after 5 years.

The thing is for the past 9 years he has had terrible migraines and really bad headaches. After top specialists etc he watched a TV programme and this person on it had the same symptoms as him to cut a long story short it turns out that he is wheat gluten intolerant and since him finding that out and changing his eating totallyba dietary requirements he is cured.

If you could get in touch with James the owner of the VW that may resolve his headaches problems something so simple has changed my pals life.

Many thanks KR Bob Kennedy.
