Prototype Discovery for sale at NEC show

Published 17 October 2017

A pre-production prototype Land Rover Discovery II comes to the open market for the first time at this year’s NEC classic motor show in November.

The 1998 model, in ES V8i form, is being sold by London specialist Graeme Hunt, who acquired it some time ago. It has since been repainted in the original Zambezi Silver. and looks to be in good condition.

ES models were the top trim line in the Discovery II range. They featured leather seats, a Harman Kardon sound system and twin sunroofs, were supplied with automatic transmission but this is believed to be the sole manual gearbox example built.

Land Rover actually used this prototype as part of its display at the 2017 Chinese Motor Show to support the launch of the Discovery V.

The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, returns to Birmingham’s NEC from Friday, 10 to Sunday, 12 November. For more information, visit www.necclassicmotorshow.com.

Manual was a no cost option. They built a few - I've sold a couple! Zambezi Silver wasn't available until 2002 if I remember correctly - it would have been Altai Silver, possibly Blenheim Silver.
