Lancaster Insurance Mini resto to raise money for charity

One of the UK's leading insurers is raising money for a cancer charity by restoring a classic Mini. Lancaster Insurance unveiled its new project - a 1969 Morris Mini Super Deluxe - at this year's NEC classic motor show.

The car, which was sourced by Classic Mini Finder, has covered just 33,000 miles from new and is completely original. It will be sympathetically restored before being sold at next year's NEC classic motor show by Silverstone Auctions. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK.

Richard Morley, Lancaster operations director, said he was very excited to be taking on the company's first restoration project. He said, 'When she’s fully restored, she’ll be a stunner! The car also has a fantastic backstory, being owned by mother and then daughter in the same family.'

After a public vote, the Mini also has a name: 'Margo'. Restoration work will be carried out by the MG Owners' Club at its Cambridgeshire workshop, while enthusiasts can follow the car's progress in Classics Monthly magazine.
