Prescott set for French and Italian classic car extravaganza

Published 18 January 2017

The tenth annual pageant of French motoring La Vie en Bleu will once again incorporate Italian car spectacular La Vito Rossa, following a successful pairing last year. As always the events will take place at Prescott Hill Climb in Gloucestershire. This year, over the weekend of 27-28 May.

Once again, Prescott Hill Climb will be transformed into a celebration of fine French and Italian automobiles, themed entertainment, musicians, dancers, actors and trade stalls.

This year the event will feature more French and Italian content on the track with special competition classes available for French and Italian marques. There will also be a round of the Ferrari Hillclimb Championship on the Saturday.

Another star attraction will be the ‘Beast of Turin’ - a Fiat S76 that is one surviving example of a pair of land speed record contenders the Italian automaker built before the First World War.

Fantuzzi Bodied Dino Competition Car

This Fantuzzi-bodied Dino Competition Car was a hit with the crowds.

The ‘Beast of Turin’ was built in 1910 with the express intention of beating the land speed record, held at the time by Blitzen-Benz. Its 28.5-litre Fiat S76 engine was capable of providing 300bhp - enough to propel the car to 116mph, and a one-mile land speed record, in 1911.

Fans of British cars will also be well catered for with a special class for ERA cars. There will also be non-competitive runs by a LaFerrari and a Bugatti Veyron, plus the new Bugatti Chiron will hopefully make an appearance.

Aside from the impressive array of vehicles both on and off track, there will be a whole raft of entertainment to keep the whole family amused.

Discount advance tickets are now available on the Prescott Hill Climb online shop, with prices starting at £15 for a day. Ticket prices include car parking and full access to all the public areas including the paddock. For all the up to date information, visit www.prescott-hillclimb.com
