Classic car boot returns to London’s Southbank

Published 25 February 2015

The Classic Car Boot Sale with ‘Vintage Presents’ will return to Southbank Centre on 14-15 March 2015, with more than 100 vehicles and traders selling vintage fashion, homewares and memorabilia from the boot of their motors.

A selection of classic cars, buses, campervans and bikes will be on display, with a chance to see a Delorean (as featured in the iconic Back to the Future films), Niki Lauda's Ferrari Formula 1 team van (from the film Rush), a collection of the world’s smallest cars, including a Tiger Messerschmitt and a replica of the famous ‘Golden Chopper’ that Raleigh produced in 1976 to mark its one millionth sale.

Iconic classic cars all restored to their original condition, such as an Aston Martin DB4, a US Navy 1942 Chevy Style Master, and a rare 1948 Cheltenham Caravan will also be on display, plus a selection of racing cars, including a1953 Alfa Romeo ‘Disco Volante.’

Highlights among the traders at this year’s event include Crystal Vintage’s GLORIA Pop Up Boutique: a horsebox turned vintage shop that has been featured on Channel 4’s Amazing Spaces

Meanwhile, The Old Collectors Garage will be selling vintage advertising, Americana and vintage American gas pumps from the boot of a Chevy Panel Van. And vintage cake stands, tea sets and china will be on offer from Lancashire-based Willacy Whimsys.

Emma Loves will return to the Classic Car Boot Sale specializing in vintage and up-cycled furniture and retro homewares, and Trevor Marchant’s selection of 1940s clothes and hats will be available from his Triumph Spitfire.

Organiser and fashion guru Wayne Hemingway said: ‘It’s a win-win for everyone. There is low cost retail space for traders, a vast numbers of shoppers, wonderful eye candy, timeless designer products, cool folk clearing out their wardrobes, fab food and drink and great music - all on the banks of the Thames at Southbank Centre. It’s a mini festival, and best of all its only four quid.”
