Record turnout for resto show

Published 05 November 2014

Nearly 7000 people made the trip to the south west to visit the Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show on over the weekend of 1-2 November.

That’s a new record for visitors numbers and beats last year’s total of 6500 – proving that we are still a nation who loves working on their classics.

Visitors were treated to live displays from clubs and restorers, plus the chance to get some much-needed advice on those tricky projects.

Top honours went to the Bristol RS Owners Club, which took the prize for best stand. While the judges agreed that the show’s most interesting car was the 1905 'Baby' X-type Phaeton, displayed on The Wolseley Register stand.

Prize for the most interesting vehicle went to the fabulous 1956 Healey Marine Sports Boat ‘55’. The Norton Radstock Classic Vehicle Club retained their 2013 award for best demonstration, although the Somerset Classic & Track Club came a close second.

Nigel Stevens, of show organiser Bristol Classic Car Events, says that the weekend was a tremendous success, ‘We were lucky with the sunny weather and the crowds came in droves,’

Next up is Footman James 5th Great Western Autojumble over 14-15 February, 2015.
