Porsche fans head to Brands Hatch

Published 19 September 2014

Le Mans winners and legendary road cars are heading to the Brands Hatch circuit this weekend for a celebration of all things Porsche.

On Sunday, 12 September, the Kent circuit will host Porsches of all ages from Fifties 356s right up to the modern day 918 Spyder hybrid.

Guest of honour will be Dr Wolfgang Porsche, supervisory board chairman of Porsche AG, and grandson of Porsche founder professor Ferdinand Porsche.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 911 Turbo, more than 70 examples will take part in a parade lap with pride of place going to a pre-production model on loan from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

Other icons on show include the 1963 356 B 2000 GS Carrera GT, which raced at the Targa Florio and Le Mans, and a 1977 935 ‘Martini’, which won the Manufacturers’ World Championship.

As well as famous cars, there will also be a host of famous faces at the event. Porsche works race drivers and Le Mans winners Derek Bell and Richard Attwood will be meeting fans and sharing memories.

Dr Wolfgang Porsche said, ‘There are now 651 Porsche Clubs in over 75 countries around the world – including Great Britain – with nearly 186,000 members.

‘The clubs are proud ambassadors of Porsche and I always enjoy meeting members, owners and enthusiasts, and sharing their passion for these special sports cars.’

The event has been organised by Motor Sport Vision, Porsche Club GB and is supported by Porsche Cars GB.
