Dates announced for 2015 Silverstone Classic

Published 18 September 2014

Next year’s Silverstone Classic will be held over the weekend of 24-26 July – and it will be the event’s 25th anniversary.

The first International Historic Festival took place at Silverstone back in July 1990. And the concept of a festival held around an historic race meeting has proved a real success.

This year’s event attracted 94,000 people and featured packed grids with 1125 classics taking part in what has become the world’s biggest motorsport meeting.

According to event director Nick Wigley, one of the best things about seeing the motoring festival develop has been the addition of younger models.

Nick said, ‘Several of today’s most popular grids such as the Super Tourers and Group C prototypes had barely seen the light of day in 1990.

‘But perhaps that’s the secret to the Classic’s spiraling success. Every year there’s more and more fabulous motor sport history for enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy and thus every year the Silverstone Classic just gets bigger and better.’
