Fans of historic motorsport will once again be heading to Britain’s own Formula One circuit to witness the excitement of the annual Silverstone Classic, which this year takes place on 25-27 July. Marketed as the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival, there’s an awe-inspiring grid for the 2014 event, with an array of racing action that includes historic Formula One, sports cars, Le Mans sports prototypes, GTs and touring cars.

With over twenty races throughout the long weekend, and with more than a thousand cars competing, the racing action will be non-stop. New grids announced for this year’s event include Classic F3 and the Mustang Celebration Trophy, with Friday seeing qualifying races for every class followed by ten races each on the Saturday and Sunday.

One of the highlights of the 2014 Silverstone Classic is the Maserati Centenary Parade, thanks to the decision to make this historic Italian manufacturer this year’s ‘Celebration Marque’. Sunday lunchtime will see a cavalcade featuring a record number of Maseratis, with competition and road cars parading around the full Silverstone circuit.

Car clubs will be playing a major role at the Silverstone Classic, with more than 9000 vehicles expected to take part. Clubs confirmed as attending include the Ford AVO Owners’ Club, Jaguar Drivers’ Club, Triumph Sport Six Club and the Porsche Club GB. Meanwhile, the traditional Silverstone Auctions sale has been expanded to a two-day event this year, with highlights of the auction including a 1940 Alvis 12/70 Competition (with a high-end estimate of £120,000) and a 1950 Healey Silverstone – one of just 105 built and expected to achieve up to £180,000.

Adult tickets to the Silverstone Classic start from £39 each for the Friday only, with Saturday and Sunday priced at £57 and £50 respectively. Two- and three-day tickets range in price from £80 to £110, and you can order yours either via www.silverstoneclassic.com or by calling 0871 231 0849. All tickets must be purchased in advance.
