Historics 23rd November Catalogue Now on Sale

Published 11 November 2019

The catalogue for Historics exceptional 100th auction of 155 classic cars at Mercedes Benz World Weybridge on 23rd November is now on sale, price £30, admits two to the auction.

Some of the highlights include:

Lot 164 is probably one of the finest Jaguar E-Type S2 4.2 roadsters in the World. LHD and purchased by the vendor in dry state Arizona it has been meticulously restored even down to finer than factory panel gaps. Easier to drive than a 3.8, with a synchromesh gearbox this is as near a perfect E-Type as you will find. It is estimated at a commensurate £148,000 to £160,000.

Healey Silverstone E-Type 1949 Historics

A 1948 Healey Silverstone ‘E-Type’. The 2.5 litre twin cam Riley engine Healey Silverstone had a very limited run of just 105 cars. This features the wider, more comfortable  ‘E-Type’ body and has been authenticated as a genuine Chassis D21, but you really need to read the catalogue entry for the full story. It is estimated at £130,000 to £170,000.

Aston Martin DB5 1966 Part Restored Historics

Lot 169 is a restoration project Aston Martin DB5 with a competition history. It was purchased by the vendor in 2001 from renowned Aston Martin specialist Ian Mason who had raced the car with some success throughout the 1970s and 1980s before laying it up. It is now partially restored, comes complete with all major components fully inventoried  and waiting to be completed. It is estimated at £355,000 to £399,000.

AC Cobra Mk IV CRS 2000 Historics

Lot 194 is a year 2000 Brooklands built AC Cobra Mk IV CRS. So it’s a genuine hand-built AC Cobra, not a copy, with all the looks and sound, but a comparatively mild, catalysed 5.0 litre Ford V8 and a modern carbon fibre body. Huge fun to drive and actually very forgiving. One of only 37. Estimated at £72,000 to £80,000.

Bentley 3 Litre Tourer 1925 Hood Up Historics (1)

A lovely 1925 3-litre Bentley tourer with the Vanden Plas body style we all picture in our minds. Delivered in 1925 to Mr. Eric D Mackintosh, this Bentley started life as a saloon with division by Rippon. Its four-seater Vanden Plas style tourer body was fitted in 1952. One foggy night, in the early 1950s it stuck in 3rd gear and the driver sold it to a garage in Slough the owners of which kept it ever since. It starred as Douglas Bader’s car in the movie ‘Reach for the Sky’, and remained in storage until the garage was sold in 2007. The family then decided to restore it spending in excess of £150,000 over 4 years with Elmdown Engineering of Hungerford. The engine starts immediately and runs extremely well. This Bentley has not been offered for sale for over 60 years and is therefore a once in a lifetime opportunity. It is estimated (very conservatively) at £180,000 to £220,000.

Mercedes -Benz SLS Roadster 2013 Historics

A 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS Roadster 6.3AMG. Features AMG’s hand built dry sup 6.2 litre naturally aspirated V8 with 571HP giving a 0-60 of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 197mph. This RHD car is black on black and with optional memory package, AMG performance steering wheel, tyre pressure monitors, adjustable suspension, heated and electronically operated seats and blind spot assist. Breathtaking performance and estimated at £100,000 to £125,000.

Datsun 240Z 1972 Historics

A 1972 Datsun 240Z with a recently rebuilt 2,800cc engine fitted with three Weber DCOEs and putting out 235HP through a 5-speed box and Quaife differential. This fully sorted and immaculate RHD car sits on new Minilite alloys with Avon CR6ZZ tyres. It stops as well as it goes by virtue of ventilated brake discs and four piston front calipers. These cars are good to drive even when a bit baggy, but this perfect example should be sensational. Estimated at £37,000 to £42,000.

Porsche 356a 1958 Historics

Lot 207 is a 1958 Porsche 356A coupe. This one has a competition history over 20 years having competed in the Liège-Rome- Liège, Coupes des Alpes, Monte-Carlo, Classic Marathon and Classic Malts amongst others. It comes with FIVA papers 1999 and features a 1,720cc flat four engine. For the extensive competition modifications, please refer to the catalogue entry. It is estimated at £72,000 to £80,000.
