Three Hot Rods, a Mustang 289 convertible and a ’54 Airstream caravan in Historics 3rd March Ascot Auction.

American car fans are in for a treat at Historics 3rd March auction at Ascot Racecourse.

As well as the five lots featured there’s a 1925 Studebaker Six Model EQ sedan, a 1995 Pontiac Firebird SE (both at no reserve); a 1954 Chevrolet Corvette C1, a 2012 Corvette C6 ZO6 and a 1970 Mustang 351 convertible. 

Our lead car is actually a well known, beautifully built hot rod featuring independent front suspension, a modified lightweight aluminium Rover V8 engine, three speed Borg Warner 65 automatic box and a Volvo rear axle. It’s estimated at £25,000 to £30,000.

Ford Model A 3-window 1929 Hot Rod

This Ford Model A street rod has an original all steel 1929 3-window body and chassis (not a fibreglass copy). Built by the vendor in 2011, the engine is a small block Chevy V8 backed up with a torque converter auto. It featured in the movie ‘Flake and Flames’ and is estimated at £19,000 to £24,000.

Ford 1940 Pick -up Hot Rod Historics

Unusual and very special thr chopped-top 1940 Ford pick-up based hot rod features a 289ci Mercury flathead V8 with Edelbrock heads, twin Strombergs and other period parts including 1947 drum brakes. Build is of a very high quality commensurate with an estimate of £45,000 to £50,000.

Ford Mustang 289 GT Convertible 1964 Historics 

1964 was the first year of production of the Ford Mustang and this ’64 convertible features GT spec with an uprated 289ci (4.7 litre) V8 and a 3-speed torque converter auto. £12,500 has been recently spent and by ’64 Mustang GT standard it’s very competitively estimated at £23,000 to £27,000.

Airstream Caravan 1954 Historics

The fabulous 1954 Airstream caravan has been completely restored and refitted to an extremely high standard using parts, components and materials befitting the finest caravans in the World. Complete with shower/wet-room, double bed, refrigerator and full cooking facilities it’s a fabulous retro showpiece that will stun everyone else on the campsite. It is estimated at £46,000 to £52,000.
