Ex-Elton John Aston for sale

A rare Aston Martin once owned by Sir Elton John is going under the hammer. The hand-built 1997 V8 Vantage V550, which the music legend ordered new, is part of the Race Retro auction on 24-25 February.

Finished in black with a black leather interior the car is capable of 0-60mph in under five seconds and hitting a top speed of 186mph. It could sell for between £190,000 and £240,000.

Adam Rutter, classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions, said, ‘As well as enjoying celebrity ownership, this stunning V8 Vantage has been maintained regardless of expense and has a mere 8663 miles on the clock - that’s equivalent to being driven about 400 miles only a year.’

It is thought that only 240 standard V550s were ever made, making them highly collectable no matter who the previous owner was. Chassis number 70174 has undergone work at specialist Rikki Cann. It comes with its original service books and invoices.
