680HP Jaguar XJ220 S Spec in Historics May 20th Ascot Auction

Exciting new lots have been added to the catalogue for Historics Classic Car Auction at Ascot Racecourse on 20^th May.

These include a 1997 Jaguar XJ220 S Spec, two Ferrari 599GTBs, a 1933 Lagonda 3 litre tourer, a 1995 Chrysler Viper Venom, a rare ‘barn find’ 1972 BMW CSL for restoration, a 1961 Cadillac Eldorado convertible and a rather nice 1993 Mercedes Benz W124 320E convertible.

Historics XJ220 isn’t just any old XJ220. It has been converted to S Spec by Don Law Racing, has a modified fuel system and has been dyno tested to over 680HP. The braking system has been upgraded, wheels replaced with BBS split rim alloys, and a carbon fibre aerodynamic kit has been fitted. This unique car is regularly invited to top events such as Salon Prive, Beaulieu and the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It is estimated at £325,000 to £375,000.

The very smart Rosso Corso and black 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB is LHD with 77,000 kilometres. Originally capable of 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 205mph. It has a carbon fibre ‘driving zone’ and engine cover, electric carbon fibre backed seats, carbo-ceramic brakes and six Ferrari stamps in the service book the last of which was at QV Ferrari, London in April 2017. It is estimated at £82,000 to £94,000.

The other 599 GTB is a 2008 RHD car with tan leather, carbon fibre backed seats, carbo-ceramic brakes and only 21,126 miles with 5 service stamps in the book. It is estimated at £99,000 to £120,000.

The lovely 1933 Lagonda 3.0 litre T7 Open Tourer was acquired by an electrical engineer in 1966, after which it underwent a six-year chassis-up nut and bolt rebuild. It passed through Paradise Garage in Fulham in 1987 to a Lagonda Club member and was then sold to a collector in Dublin. Since then it has had a full engine rebuild and undertook the 800 mile Lagonda 75^th Anniversary trip to Le Mans and back without mishap. It is estimated at £120,000 to £150,000.

Massive power for comparatively little money is represented by this 1995 Chrysler Viper Venom Spec. Its 8-litre V10 has been modified by Hennessey Performance to deliver 600HP through the back wheels. It is estimated at £23,000 to £28,000.

In addition to a ‘barn find’ Aston Martin DB6, Historics also offers this ultra rare 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL Lightweight, complete with original aluminium bonnet, bootlid and doors. Build date was 16^th November 1972 and the car was registered on 18^th May 1993 after a colour change to Verona Red. This one has the luxuries of a City Pack including electric windows, PAS, Scheel sports seats and sports steering wheel. It needs a bit of work and the engine has not been turned for some time, so it is offered at No Reserve.

The 1961 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible was the epitome of glorious American styling excess, and this 62,000 mile example, imported to the UK in 1963, has ever conceivable extra available. It is reported to be corrosion free. In superb condition and fully refurbished using original Cadillac components to a very high standard. It is estimated at £33,000 to £38,000.

Finally, down to earth, a gorgeous 1993 Mercedes Benz W124 320E convertible. This one has been to the Cote d’Azure a few times (166,000 miles), but remains in fine fettle with 220HP on tap from its twin cam 3.2 litre straight six. It’s rust-free, comes with air conditioning, 17-inch factory SMG alloys, a comprehensive history file, and is described as “rust-free”. It is offered at No Reserve.
