Ex-Rod Stewart Lamborghini Miura sells for £909,000

A Lamborghini Miura P400 S once owned by singer Sir Rod Stewart sold for £909,000 at Coys’ auction over the weekend. The Italian supercar, which went under the hammer at the Classic & Sports Car Show at Alexandra Palace on Sunday, 30 October, was first delivered to the singer in 1971, topped more than 60 lots as the show hosted its first classic car sale..

The car passed from Stewart through several different owners. It was the current British owner, who bought it nearly two decades ago, that decided to transform it into SV specification. It received the necessary front and rear clam modification, suspension upgrades and rear lights. The car’s bulkhead, engine, and chassis all bare correct numbers for the original S and are original to the car.

In 2013, the Miura has been restored in its SUV configuration by marquee specailists Colin Clarke Engineering. Suspension, steering, brakes, and hubs were rebuilt with all components correctly finished.

The work also included an extensive overhaul of the wiring, dashboard instruments, supply lines. The body was refinished in the factory colour of Blue Notte and it has black leather upholstery. The bill for the SV conversion and restoration work came to £100,000.

Aston Martin DB5 sold for £450k on the hammer

Other auction highlights included a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 that boasted only one owner from new – until it sold today for £450,000. Meanwhile, a Ferrari 246 GT Dino made the all-up price of £371,000.
