Restored Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet to be auctioned at CarFest South

Published 23 June 2015

A restored 1977 Volkswagen 1303 Karmann Cabriolet is just one of the lots going under the hammer at Chris Evans’ CarFest over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The Beetle, which was originally imported into the UK from Georgia, USA, in 1977, is estimated to sell for between £13,000 and £15,000 at CCA’s CarFest South auction on Saturday, 29 August.

As well as the Volkswagen, there’s also a 1998 BMW Z3M Roadster for sale, with an estimate of between £12,000 and £15,000.

But auction firm CCA, which specialises in ‘everyman’ cars, is still keen to find more lots for its 100-car sale at the sold-out event, which will help raise money for BBC Children in Need.

A host of celebrity auctioneers promise to get the crowd excited and hammer away the lots on offer, with special charity lots of offering meaning 100% of the hammer price (plus fees) will be given to charity.

CarFest has attracted more than 265,000 classic car fans in the past three years and is the brainchild of popular DJ, classic car aficionado, and new Top Gear presenter, Chris Evans.

The family festival takes place at 1979 F1 World Champion Jody Scheckter’s Laverstock Park Farm in Hampshire. As well as cars and food, there’s also a great selection of music with Billy Ocean and The Boomtown Rats playing live.

If you are interested in selling your car in the auction, call CCA on 01926 640888, email enquiries@classiccarauctions.co.uk or enter online.
