£400,000 Bentley under the hammer at Barons auction today

Published 21 April 2015

Going under the hammer at Barons today is this 1954 Bentley R Continental Fastback – with an estimate of between £200,000 and £400,000.

According to the seller, this car was commissioned by a racing driver from Newport South Wales called RD Weatherall.

It was originally painted in his racing colour, purple. The car was then sold to a Yorkshire doctor Peter Walton, and the car was re-sprayed white.

The current vendor purchased the car directly from Dr Walton, used it for a few times before being laid up on blocks in his garage.

In the 33 years of his ownership, it has had very little use, and has not been used at all for the last fifteen years.

According to the catalogue, ‘This is an opportunity to purchase a very rare and desirable motor car.’
