Three-Week Rover Car Strike Over

22 February 1960

A settlement was announced on Saturday of the three-week-old strike by 39 sheet metal workers at the Rover Motor Company's factory at Clay Lane, Coventry. The men went on strike after refusing to accept a replacement for a vacancy caused by the voluntary departure of a work mate.

They claimed that the replacement was unnecessary. A management official said that work would start again at Clay Lane to-day and that it would be possible to resume Land Rover production about midday.
