Is there a simple way of establishing whether my Jaguar is car is a Daimler 6 or a XJ40? Car was first registered on a diplomatic plate (Nov 1987) and re-registerd in 2000

I'm guessing it doesn't say on the V5C? Main differences are grille, badges, wheels, and different bootlid emblems. Daimlers also got climate control and sunroof as standard whereas these were optional extras on Jaguar. The interior is a better overall quality in the Daimler with richer wood and higher quality leather. I believe the Daimler also got picnic tables. Fun fact: in the US they were sold as Jaguar Vanden Plas.
