I want a classic convertible - Saab 900 or Audi 80?

I would like an old convertible as a semi-second car. Four seats would be useful - dogs, luggage, the occasional teenager etc. Budget up to £4000-ish. I have narrowed the choice down to a Saab or an Audi 80. I have owned a 1990 Saab previously, which soldiered on to 250,000 miles and which I loved. I have owned a 1996 Audi Avant for six years, so have good experience of both makes. Would you recommend either of these, and if the Audi, which is the best engine option?

The old 900 Series Saab is characterful, but if the wraparound screen breaks you can be in trouble. The Audi 80 is just uninspiring stodge in comparison.
