How much should I pay for a BMW Z3M restoration project?

What do you think is a fair price for a 2002 BMW Z3M with 126,000 miles on the clock? It has not been MoT'd since 2016 and it's a bit rough cosmetically but I have no idea how it is mechanically. The seller has left it standing undercover for four years. I'm looking for a project but don't want to spend a fortune on the restoration.

The BMW Z3M has a strong following and even rough examples make strong money. A useable one will cost around £15,000 – while a good example from a specialist dealer could be twice that. Don't underestimate the costs involved in reconditioning an example that's been off the road for four years. Depending on its condition, I wouldn't want to pay any more than £7000.
