Sub standard

My Subaru Forester boxer diesel is my 6th Subaru, all previous 5 having been highly satisfactory. This latest is quite the worst car of any I have driven. The gearchange is stiff and clunky, and you have to constantly think what gear you are in between 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. At the drop of a hat you can be brought to an instant stop when the engine decides you are in the wrong gear. You cannot start in 2nd even when rolling and there appears to be no flywheel inertia at all. Towing would be highly dangerous and the "Field " report for August 2008 on the 5-speed Legacy diesel it states "A more serious complaint is the ease with which the Legacy stalls". As an aside I was with my wife May1st 1960 when she purchased her 1600 MGA roadster. It is still in an as new condition and a rare one-owner car since new after 50 years.

MGB made £142,000 at a Historics auction at Brooklands in June.
