Is there anything specific I need to address at the next service of my Jaguar XJS?

My 1992 Jaguar XJS 4.0 straight 6 coupe with 101,000 miles is due for a service in a couple of months. In addition to the standard items involved in a full service, is there anything else I should get addressed at this time?

While service schedules are a useful way of keeping the maintenance up to date, remember your car is now 27 years old. So the official service schedule suggests checking the brake fluid - but if the car is only doing a few thousand miles a year then it's last brake fluid replacement could (potentially) have been a long time ago. In fact, if it's more than two years old we'd recommend replacing the brake fluid.

I believe your car is closest to the 'B' service schedule that takes place at about 97,500 miles. This includes replacing oil and filter, new spark plugs, new automatic transmission and filter, new oxygen sensor. And while the coolant only needs to be replaced every 20,000 miles - again if it's two years old, we'd recommend changing it. Also, check the dates on the belts - they need to be changed every 60,000 miles, but if that mileage was clocked up 10 years ago then you'll want to replace them.
