How to tune your 998cc A-series engine

Published 02 July 2015

Have you ever wanted to make your Mini into a track weapon? Or maybe just get the most out of your Metro? Well, now you can thanks to this new book.

How to Power Tune the 998cc A-series Engine is packed with hints and tips for making this little BMC/BL/Rover lump a bit more potent.

Written by engineer and professional race engine builder Des Hammill, it includes expert building tips and techniques.

Priced at £14.99, it promises to help save you money by showing you what parts and upgrades really make a difference - rather than spending your hard-earned cash on modifications that may not deliver.

And it doesn't just apply to the later cars, either. The humble A-series began life in the Morris Minor and Austin A30 in 803cc guise in the early 1950s.

It grew to 948cc in 1956 and could be found under the bonnet of the Austin A35, Austin A40 'Farina', Morris Minor, Austin-Healey Sprite and MG Midget.

That means many of the principles covered in this book can be applied to the earlier 948cc engine.
