Outstanding Entry to Historics Classic Car Auction at Ascot This Saturday

Published 16 May 2017

The sheer weight of the catalogue is telling enough. 174 lots including 19 Jaguars (10 E-Types), 17 Mercedes, 10 Porsches, 10 Triumphs, 8 Ferraris, 7 BMWs and 5 Aston Martins.

Please note this necessitates an early 10.00am start.

But first, the most important thing. The postcode of the venue is SL5 7JX: Ascot Racecourse, Ascot High Street, Ascot. Not the usual Brooklands Museum or Mercedes Benz World.

Probably the star entry is the S spec 1997 Jaguar XJ220 estimated at £325,000 to £375,000. But this sale has something for everyone, including a ‘barn find’ Aston Martin DB6 and a ‘barn find’ BMW 3.0CSL Lightweight.

And most of the cars in the sale are relatively manageable. The oldest is a magnificent 1933 Lagonda 3.0 litre T7 open tourer estimated at £120,000 to £150,000. But that’s the only pre-1940 car apart from a re-creation of a 1913 Stanley Vanderbilt Cup racer.

Everything else is 1940s or later.

Historics Ascot auction promises to be one of the best UK classic car auctions of the year, so essential for enthusiasts and investors alike.
