Ed china was what made this show so watchable he was so skilled not just a mouthpiece

Dee Jay    on 22 March 2017

First we lost Top Gear (refuse to watch the new show) and now Wheeler Dealers, without Edd the show is finished. Let's hope amazon offer him his own show as The Grand Tour works great.
Hopefully Edd will be back on our screens very soon.

glidermania    on 23 March 2017

Sorry but Mike's being less than truthful there. Edd 'didnt want to go off and try other things,' Edd is leaving because his role and the part of the programme everybody watches it for is being scaled back. Instead of standing full square behind Edd, Mike and 'the crew' have sold him down the river.

i have been watching the show for many years. I was never interested in what Mike did apart from bringing the cars to Edd. Edd made the show his techincal expertise and how he did the work was second to none. I wish Mike and his new show well but unfortunatrly I doubt very much if I will be watching. As for Edd I will be watching his on going career. good luck to you all and thank you for the show I really enjoyed and will miss it.

Chris graham    on 24 March 2017

Edd will defiantly be missed for his creative ways around car fix,s. I agree he was the main man in this program, Mike sorting the deals was great but it always was Edd that made the car from wreak to pristine gleaming classic.
Well done Edd all he best

UGH. ANOTHER GOOD SHOW RUINED BY GREED. I LIKE MOST THAT ARE COMMENTING WATCHED FOR ED CHINA. ANOTHER SHOW JUMPS THE SHARK!!! HOPE TO SEE ED BACK FIXING CARS ON TV SOON.

   on 24 March 2017

Another victim of it's own success then. Get rid of the playground buffoon Tim Shaw on Car SOS and stick Edd with Fuzz, bin the sob strories and expand it into 2x 1hr slots for each car. Then we can really get our teeth into each resto.
Oh, and make any comparisons or references to old / new TG and that Amazon thing punishable by flogging? It's boring and very predictable.

Adam Harwood    on 26 March 2017

Anyone can do motor mouth Brewers job but there will only ever be one Mr Edd China.

David Harries    on 27 March 2017

To be honest...that's a political style statement...it's factual in hindsight but wasn't truthful at the outset....Ed never wanted to leave.....it's a shame it's come to this but in my opinion and mine alone...I believe that this will put a huge dent in the shows popularity....I know it has for me. So...make your own minds up...I will watch what ever Ed decides to do..as it's bound to be on a par with his role in wheeler dealers....

R.I.P Wheeler Dealers.........

Long live Ed China.

Mercedes Beemer    on 27 March 2017

Not a chance I'm going to sit through more of Mike's scripted, pre arranged dealings. What a yawnathon.....After 13 years, that's me done. The workshop was the best bit, cut it back and you cut back the viewers!

Rodney Kent    on 28 March 2017

Edd China is the reason Wheeler Dealers has been my favourite car program over the years. Having worked on older cars in my youth, I found it very inspiring to watch him carry out repairs on the cars, passing on his wealth of knowledge and little tips.
The other car shows on Discovery are rubbish by comparison. Why do these stupid production company execs have to mess with a winning formula? Wheeler dealers was unique because it showed the ordinary man in the street how to deal with the oily bits on a car yourself . The interaction with Mike Brewer was fun, but not the best part of the show in my opinion.
I wish Edd all the best for the future, and look forward to seeing him again on YouTube or television

TREVOR WHYTE    on 30 March 2017

Oh dear Mike, what have you done.Edd could be filmed down at almost any auction buying classic cars untried(almost) and doing what he is good at(and what we want to see).
Edd can now, single handed, give us the continuation of a great show which,i for one, really look forward to,i just hope that Edd negotiates a really good deal with a free to air channel that we can all sit back and enjoy.
Goodbye Mike(and the best of luck,i think you will need it).

   on 31 May 2017

Discovery channel etc don't seem to understand its the mechanical and engineering skills that pull in the punters to car programs. The likes of Edd China, Fuzz Townsend or Aaron Kaufman are the key reasons all these programmes are so successful.
Fabrication, welding, panel beating, stripping down, rebuilding, refurbing, refitting, painting, electrics etc.... all demonstarted by experts. The channel that recognises that this is what the punters want to see will have a hit show that stands the test of time. I hope to see Edd doing such a show and wish him well.

   on 3 June 2017

As I understand it, Discovery had already played with the formula by bringing production in-house and basing the show much more firmly in the US where it airs on the Velocity Channel. The feel of the 'new', Discovery-produced episodes is certainly different to the original, independently-made ones and evidently this is set to continue with their seeming marginalisation of the mechanic's role in what is increasingly a scripted, 'reality' show. This is a real shame and whilst Ant will make a great foil to Mike I'm afraid it will likely be at the expense of the educational & instructional element of the show. I'll watch it to see how it pans out as I like both Mike and Ant but it will be with a degree of sadness.
Here's hoping that Edd finds a new home soon and we can continue to enjoy his wit and wisdom..

M gwynne    on 13 June 2017

Mick Gwynne iv just Seen the video of Mike who explained that it was edd who wanted to leave the show for better things so don't blame Mike or the team if that's what edd wants so I will still watch the new show

Geoff Hudson    on 19 June 2017

The real reason why Edd left the show is that he is poverty stricken. Mikes valuation of the 'restored' cars NEVER took account of Edds labour costs, making the whole show a total sham. "Oi bort the mota for 2300, spent 600 on bits and shook hands on it for 3400, a nice little earner" Total b******* from start to finish. Edd is well out of it. He's a talented bloke but Mike sometimes made him look bad. Good luck Edd in any new PROFITABLE venture that you take on. Geoff, aka wheelwrite

gileyfrance    on 1 September 2017

Edd was Associate Producer on the shows. Doubt he's broke!
Shame though if it ends up like a Car SOS sob story with no one actually properly fixing stuff in front of your eyes - which I reckon is what every viewer wants to see - rather than just give the car away at the end of the show. I think I could be a dealer at those prices.
I wasted a lot of £s on texts trying to win their fab Jaguar XK8 though. V jealous of the winner!

Eddie Osborne    on 12 September 2017

I will miss Edd China, I dont think that 50% of the shows talent will work.
Its a bit like 5th Gear, remember that show?
If i were a director of Velocity i would stop this error taking place.

Eddie Osborne.

carcraft    on 5 October 2017

Having just watched the first show without Edd China, I must say I’m disappointed. No offense to Ant, he seems like a decent guy, but the show just feels dumbed down. The production values look cheaper. Drawing on tables and laying things out on the floor may be less expensive to shoot, but the end result is a crappier show. One feels the heavy hand of the producer cutting corners. Maybe it did cost more to produce Edd China’s segments his way. It was clearly worth it, and was money well spent. Shame on the penny-pinching production company.

   on 4 December 2017

What a waste of an iconic show! Personal ambition and greed wins again. Absolutely pathetic!!!

   on 4 January 2018

I am GUTTED that Edd has left the show... What a mechanic..... Wheeler dealers is not the same without him..... Edd rules

Bampster1

Tudgey    on 9 January 2018

Having watched the ‘new’ Wheeler Dealers I am increadably disappointed at lack of in-depth mechanics. It like just the items that need attention suddenly appear done as if by magic. No offence to Ant as he knows his stuff but now such a cheap unattractive show. As car craft said ‘shame in the penny-pinching production company’. Velocity certainly doesn’t rock.

Sam Johndtone    on 10 January 2018

Mike Brewer talked b******s when he describes himself as a wheeler dealer, he always appeared to be the easiest car salesman to beat down, a total pussy Whereas Edd was and always will be Mr TV Mechanic

jimbob nelson    on 12 January 2018

Mike Brewer negotiating for a car dont make me laugh.
All cars are sorted long befor Brewer gets to them.
They are looked at by a third party and price is negotiated before the cameras get to the car.All Brewer does is a front for the camera.I woudnt let him push my pram hes a front man nothing else

Mike Oxleigh-King    on 15 January 2018

Having watched the new show I am so disappointed. No criticism of Ant who is a very able mechanic and a good presenter but
a) the cars so far are just awful. A car doesn't become a classic just because it is old or we would all be doing up Morris Itals;
b) the mechanical content has been dumbed down; and
c) Mike Brewer has just become a caricature of his already inflated ego. No-one cared about the fake money. Everyone thought they'd love to have Edd doing up their car for them and not charging for labour. Now it is just all about Mike and he obviously thinks that adding the 'hours spent' (would that have included spending a day driving to some remote place to get three spokes put in a wire wheel) gives it more authenticity. It doesn't and we don't mind. We are into the restorations not the two 'undred notes profit.
You have spoiled something great Mike.

Used to love Wheeler Dealers, because of Mr China....! He has been sold down the river by someone who calls himself a 'mate'! Edd's mechanical expertise, along with his hints, tips and advice, will be sadly missed. Edd has a genuine love for cars which came across in the show, as every little detail was attended to and dealt with the utmost care and professionalism. The show is now dead on its feet and while Ant seems like a decent guy, I don't think he could lace Edd's boots! Nice going Mike, and while we all know you wont give a t**s about what we write here, you've sold out, killed the show and lost a mate....Best of luck to Edd in whatever he does now.

AKBaker    on 18 January 2018

No disrespect to Ant but I cannot stand the new show, It's now just another American car show with high fives, Wahooos, hugs and hand slapping - very disappointed, it's aimed at US punters and not UK punters who have a very different idea of what makes a good show and this is not it

Ken Wright    on 18 January 2018

As a owner of a couple of classics alays enjoyed the show, even Mikes bits although anybody with any nous knows it was contrived and helped make the show, but like most commentators on here Edd was the main reason for watching it. I`m a 68yr old reasonable do it yourselfer & watching Edd do his stuff would always give me a few tips & was the show, such a shame, hope someone picks up on Edd to do something in the future for TV

Johnyy    on 18 January 2018

Just watched a newish episode about the Mustang Mach 1 and it made me angry. Apparently all you need to do to restore bhp is fit an uprated exhaust. What rubbish. It was not there originally so how is it restoring the factory performance. Ant is un-informative telling us you tell by experience the car is running rich. The people working at home don't have the experience. Black sooty plugs - sure that's how he knows it's running rich. Ignition timing is a precise matter at a certain rpm. No mention of that because Ant is 'searching for the sweet spot'. What BS.

I do not want to watch a show where everything is repeated 3 times and nothing is informative. I want the nuts and bolts and less of the vanity

Harry Gillespie    on 27 January 2018

This is what happens when the front man of the show takes the peeve at his side kick becoming the star. Wheeler dealers will now go the same way as top gear with no Edd China. Get worried Mike, really worried I am convinced Edd will re appear on his own show which will send Mike Brewer and wheeler Dealers to the proverbial scrap yard

I'm afraid it's all over for me as well. I watched Wheeler Dealers initially for the whole show and it gradually became MB driving a car followed by numerous pics of the same, so I got to not bothering with the first and last 12 minutes. I only watched it latterly for MR EDWARD CHINA.

As has been said Ant seems an Ok guy, but the fixes are so "magically" done that there is no integrity to the mechanics. The show has lost it's USP.

The other TV shows seems all to be the same - good mechanic and an idiot being an a***hole.

Just watched some of Goblin - what a load of rubbish. People talking about talking about talking. Lots to the camera. Also Drew Pritchard's show is very very poor. Guy with lots of money buys a car and someone else gets someone else to get someone else to do the job. Total crap.

   on 8 February 2018

Yeah totally agree,,the new guy "ant" is soooooo over the top and trying way too hard that it's embarrassing,,as soon as he starts his SECTIONS I have to fast forward it,he is way too irritating for me and his facial expressions and hand gestures are just cringe worthy ,,iv taken off series link now I just can't watch it any more now that edd ( who was the show in my opinion) has left

Antony Horton    on 13 February 2018

The new show must have cost about £10 to make , the work on the cars is just so cheap , cut as many corners as you can and lets save money , I do not think many more series will be made , as many of you have said top gear is now dead and this rubbish will follow , I do hope car SOS stays the same

Jimmy M    on 2 March 2018

Ruined the show. Ed was great. Ant is ok as a presenter, but he's no Ed China.

Always thought Mike was ok, but clearly he's a money grabbing little s***, who doesn't hesitate to sell out his 'mate' Ed.

Mike - you've shown the world what a grubby little man you are - not that you care a joy, I'm betting.

Ant - go back to CH4 (if they'll have you)

Ed - good luck and best wishes to you - you deserve your own show or regular magazine slot.

I'll never watch WD again - it's now in the same garbage can as TG.

(ps Mike, even if I won the lottery, I wouldn't buy one of your s***ty over-priced cars ; you w***er!)

M.bat    on 6 March 2018

M.bat
Watched a few episodes of the new WD without edd it's just not as good
The dodge van suddenly became finished right after the commercial break so much is now missed out
Edd used to go into great detail about the whole job , MIKE over the years I find as become very annoying & silly and the car buying & selling is so bad acting to a script
Ant seems to be a very clever & nice bloke I wonder how long he will last? Do they all live in America now !,

   on 31 October 2018

There's just as much mechanical stuff as there always was. Ant is actually really great and explains thing really well. Ant had a blackboard out showing exactly how a turbo works. I would prefer if it was set in England but it's still great. I've got no idea why Mike gets so much grief. He didn't sack Edd, Edd left. Long live Wheeler Dealers.
