Italian Job Minis return to Crystal Palace

Published 09 May 2016

Three of the Minis used in the film The Italian Job will be returning to Crystal Palace at the end of May. The cars will be at the Motorsport at the Palace event on 29-30 May.

In the late-1960s, the London venue was used to film scenes from the famous movie, including the part where Michael Cane’s character delivers the line, ‘You’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.’

And the circuit was used by stunt drivers to practice the jumping sequence with the Coopers, while parts of the car chase were also filmed there.

Now fans will be able to see the cars on a static display at the event, with the trio of Minis taking to the track for a parade lap at lunchtime on both days.

Around 150 cars from racing and rallying spanning more than 100 years of motoring will be at this year’s show, ranging from pre-war vintage to modern day. You can expect a diverse line-up of racing with a pre-1931 Austin 7 Ulster in one race and a 2000 Honda Civic R-Type in the next.

Tickets are now on sale, with adults passes priced from £12 and children from £5 when booked in advance. For more information, race updates, and booking details, visit www.motorsportatthepalace.co.uk.
