Rally legend Ari Vatanen reunited with Rothmans Ford Escort at Race Retro 2015

Published 17 December 2014

Former World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen will be reunited with two of his old cars at Race Retro in February 2015.

The rally legend will take to the live rally stage in the Rothmans Ford Escort and an Opel Manta 400 at the event, which takes place Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, 20-22 February.

One of the best-known drivers of the 1980s, Vatanen was on course to win the 1985 World Rally Championship in his Peugeot 205 T16 until a near-fatal accident in Argentina ended his season.

Another famous Peugeot driver will also be celebrated at this year’s Race Retro – Richard Burns, who died ten years ago. Burns’s rally-winning 205 and 309 GTIs will be at the show, joined by his 1992 Group N Subaru Impreza as well as his 2001 World Rally Championship Impreza.

Adult tickets for Race Retro, sponsored by Peter James & Stewart Miller Insurance, start at £20 in advance with children’s tickets at £5 for Friday and Saturday and free on Sunday.

Car parking is free. The show is open from 9.30am each day and closes at 5.30pm on Friday and Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday. To book tickets, visit www.raceretro.com.
