VW Type 2 T1 21 Window Combi Up For Auction

A 1966 21 window VW Type 2 T1 'Splittie' combi is up for auction at BCA Blackbushe on Thursday 4th December.

The 21 window is the rarest and most sought-after of the T1 combis, evoking surfing off the California coast and listening to the Beach Boys.

This LHD example is fully restored, finished in cream over green with whitewall tyres and a cream leather interior.

Its many original features include radio, extensive chrome trim and double barn doors into the passenger area.

In January 2013, a perfectly restored 1963 21 window VW T1 combi with sunroof sold at auction in the USA for a World Record $198,000 + commission (£126,000 at today's rate).

The BCA 21 window Type 2 sold on 4th December 2014 for £38,100.
