Ferrari 308 GTS QV set to light up Silverstone sale
A 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalve could fetch nearly £100,000 when it goes under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ sale on Saturday, 20 September.
The car, which has covered just 10,318 miles from new, has only had two owners – the first being the supplying dealer H R Owen. The 3.0-litre four-cam V8 uses Bosch electronic fuel injection with four valves-per-cylinder to produce 240bhp. Only 748 of these so-called ‘Quattrovalve’ models were made.
Fastest of all the 308s produced, these models are much in demand – and if the current trend for Eighties supercars smashing estimates at auctions continues, then it may well surpass its £80,000-£90,000 estimate to hit the £100,000 mark.
As the mileage suggests, it’s been tucked away in the vendor’s garage with only light use, but this 308 does come with some history and the original handbooks and service records.
These show that the car was laid up in 2006 – although we’re told it will be taken to a specialist for a cambelt change and be sold with a fresh MoT. You’ll notice, however, that it’s currently undergoing a registration plate transfer.
Whether or not any of these things will matter come Saturday, we’ll have to wait and see - 308 GTS ‘QVs’ don’t come up for sale very often.
