Jaguar lays off workers

Jaguar P.L.C., Coventry, England, the auto maker, said it laid off 4,200 workers, more than half its total manufacturing force, after a strike by 300 workers at its Birmingham paint shop. Jaguar is a subsidiary of Ford Motor Co.
