Jaguar P.L.C., the luxury-car maker, produced 16 percent more cars this year than in 1986 but fell just short of its production target of 49,000, the British national news agency Press Association said today. The agency, quoting a company spokesman, said the record total of 48,020 produced in 1987 included a rise of 24 percent in the number of six-cylinder sedan cars and 8 percent in XJS sports cars.
