Triumph lay-offs

3 June 1972

THE GUARDIAN
TRIUMPH NEWS

In Liverpool the number of workers laid-off at the two Triumph car factories because of a strike by clerical workers rose to 2,300 yesterday. Production of Toledo cars has halted and output of car bodies for other models assembled at Coventry has come to a virtual standstill.

A company spokesman said that so far no one had been laid off at Coventry but there might have to be some cut back next week unless the Liverpool strike ended soon. The clerical workers are on unofficial strike over pay claim negotiations they say are taking too long.
