Standard-Triumph news

1 October 1969

DAILY EXPRESS

Standard-Triumph hit by a strike of 1,150 Liverpool car body workers over four weeks ago, still had 7,000 workers laid off yesterday, and the main assembly centre at Coventry remained idle. The Liverpool men, who have ignored union advice to return to work, are expected to meet again tomorrow.

Production of Rover 2000 and 3500 at Solihull, Birmingham, was again at a standstill as a result of an unofficial strike and lay-offs at the Cardiff plant which supplies axles and gearboxes. Talks to settle this dispute were held at the Department of Employment and Productivity in Cardiff yesterday.
