1,350 LAID OFF AT JAGUAR'S

Assembly of Jaguar cars was again at a standstill yesterday at the firms Coventry works because of a strike of 13 operatives in the plating shop. About 1,350 assembly workers are now laid off because of a shortage of plated components: About 1,000 were sent home on Wednesday when the strike began, and yesterday a further 350 employees were sent home. The dispute is over the firm's plan to introduce time study in the plating shop.

The 850 workers at Car Bodies Ltd.. Coventry, who have been on strike for four weeks, decided yesterday to return to work.
