Is my Tiguan’s engine failure related to the emissions fix?

We bought a 62 plate Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI 4Motion 10 months ago with 32k on the clock. It had the emissions fix in August and has been a bit lumpy and not as refined ever since. This week it stopped and the engine has seized (currently under investigation). It started making a tapping noise for a short time then gave two fan belt type squeals and just died. It has 39,500 miles on the clock. Is this likely to be a result of the fix or is it something else?

This is the 17th report we have received of problems with Tiguan 2.0TDIs following the emissions 'fix'. Symptoms similar to the other cases, but this is the first of total engine failure. Start threatening to take the dealer to the Small Claims Track of the County Court on the grounds he originally sold you a car with a known problem (it was well known in February 2016) and that as a result of this problem it totally failed.
