Honda CR-V refusing to start

My one year old Honda CR-V refused to start last week. After about five minutes of opening and closing the doors, it started and I regarded it as a one-off issue. However, a few days later, the problem happened again.

The car was collected and taken to my local Honda dealer and they noticed that if the Key fob is placed near the starter button, it then works. They now tell me that it is working OK but have confirmed that they have not undertaken any work to get to this position. What could be causing this issue?

Presumably this has the system of recognising the key when you get close to the car and automatically opening the doors. Once inside you have to put your feet on both brake and clutch to start the engine. This works for me on an HR-V whether I leave the key in my pocket or dump it in the cupholder. I'd guess that maybe the battery in your key is failing.
