Buying a car with good performance without carbon build-up - what's out there?
There seems to be a modern issue of cars with direct injection and carbon buildup leading to expensive failures. Can you recommend a car brand and or models which don't experience this issue. Ideally want a car with good performance. It mainly seems to be the European models which suffer.

It's a problem with Gasoline Direct Injection. If the fuel/air mixture is not injected via the inlet vales, they are prone to develop carbon deposits. One way to mitigate this is to use a Superfuel such as Shell V-Power Nitro Plus that burns more cleanly. VAG recently tackled it by introducing indirect as well as direct injection to its EA288 1.8 and 2.0 litre petrol engines.
