Does the Audi Allroad 12.5 TDI engine have a history of injection pump failures?

I have had diesel cars for over 20 years and never had a pump failure until recently. In Jan 2009 I bought a 2005 Audi Allroad 2.5 TDI. In Dec 2009, one month before the warranty ran out out, it began running very badly and the fuel injection pump was replaced by the Audi dealer at no charge. In April 2010, the engine cut out totally and the car had to be recovered by the Audi dealer who diagnosed a faulty injection pump again and replaced it FOC. Just last Saturday I noticed that the engine was running unevenly again (rather like on the first occasion) but it recovered and has run faultlessly since.

Whilst giving full marks to the Audi garage for excellent, no-quibble service, I am beginning to lose confidence in what is otherwise an excellent vehicle. Is there any history of 2.5 TDI diesels giving trouble with their injection pumps, or have I just been very unlucky? The car has done just over 50,000 miles and most of my previous VAG group diesels have been run over 120,000 with no engine trouble whatsoever.

I'm not aware of a history of injection pump failures on this engine, that was widely used in A6s and A4s. Could there be a problem of lack of lubricity in the fuel you are using?
