Do you think I should replace my Mazda 3 with the new Mazda 3 Saloon?

I am a 69-year-old reasonably active female who has recently retired. I have done circa 8000 miles pa but this will now drop considerably. I have driven a 2009 1.6-litre Mazda 3 Saloon (which I love) from new and would have replaced it two years ago with same, but they ceased production. I had half decided on a Focus 1.0 EcoBoost to be purchased in September, when I discovered there is to be a new Mazda 3 Saloon introduced at the Frankfurt Motorshow. I am now undecided as this will probably not be available until nearer the end of the year. I read that the new one is aimed at Audi 4 drivers, which takes it into the bracket above what I would have expected and probably into a price range I can’t afford. I could not find the anticipated price range. Which would you advise?

Here is a news item about the new Mazda 3: www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/new-cars/2013-06/new-maz.../ and some more information and photos: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/mazda/3-2014/.

There will be a 4-door saloon and a 1.5-litre petrol engine that should be in your price range. Meanwhile, Audi is about to introduce a Mazda 3-sized A3 saloon: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/audi/audi-a3-saloo.../
