Does my warranty cover a catastrophic engine failure?

I have an extended warranty with Renault covering my 2008 Espace. Recently the engine has destroyed a con rod and big end shells resulting in the wreckage of the entire unit due to metal particles throughout including the turbo. They are talking about £10,000 to replace the engine ( which is more than the car is worth) What, if any, redress can I expect from the extended warranty? If none, could you recommend a reliable source for replacement engines?

Depends on the terms of the warranty. If this was caused by timing belt failure after the belt should have been replaced, then no. Can't recommend a source of replacment engines for Espaces because this is a very common failure so demand for used Espace engines greatly exceeds supply and there are a lot of crooks in the replacement engine business. You might have to go to France to get one.
