Rough running Focus diesel?

When trying to accelerate hard in 4th or 5th gear my 2006 Focus TDCi is prone to misfiring with the resulting loss in power. At all other times acceleration is fine. What could be the cause of this?

Gummed up injectors. Switch to Shell V-Power diesel and see if a couple of tankfuls of that clears it.
