Tyre noise on my Citroen C5

My recently bought 2009 Citroen C5 HDi 173 Tourer Estate with 225/55 R17 Primacy , has excessive front tyre noise as diagnosed by the dealer who says it is a characteristic of the model, a diagonal tyre swop making no difference. Is there any cure?

As wide, low profile tyres pass 2/3 worn they become increasingly noisy as more of the tyre tread is in permanent contact with the road surface.
