Sporty town commuter

Hiya,

I am looking to replace my old Nisan Almera Action 1.4 Petrol with something a bit more sportier. My budget is around 4,000-8,000

I do about 25 miles a day commuting about 50% dual carriage way, 50% stop start slow traffic in town, and a monthly drive up the country on the motorway. This is resulting in getting about 300-320 miles each time I fill up

I quite liked the idea of getting a diesel after driving a 2.2 Civic diesel, it seemed fairly sporty and I assumed would be better economy. Although I'm worried about not doing enough miles to benefit from a diesel without it ending up costing alot more in service repairs

Mainly, I don't mind if its Petrol or Diesel, but I do want some of the economy if I'm driving sensibly or in traffic. But having some guts when I want to put my foot down. Having a good selection of extras like aircon etc are good to.

Civic 1.8i. It will do 40 - 45mpg. At least it did for me.
