Which small or medium sized car?

Trying to decide on what auto to buy. Husband no longer able to drive. I want reasonable acceleration and decent safety features. I drive mainly in busy London suburbs and on the M25.

Note makes sense, but Activa more sensible than Tekna. Yaris hybrid makes sense. Honda Jazz CVT-7 makes sense. Toyota Verso S Multidriver S makes sense.
