Correct engine oil for my car
I own a 2003 Volkwagen Golf Mk4 1.9 TDi estate with a PD diesel engine. Although I have never done oil changes myself, I do know that it is on a longlife service schedule, and I am pretty sure it has always had longlife oil put in.
Now, today, from the main VW dealers, after telling them that I had a PD engine, it was given a gold 5ltr container of Quantum Longlife III 5w-30 oil, which states that it is "VW 504 00/ 507 00 approved" but mentions nothing of PD engines. Is this the right oil for my car? I understand that if the wrong oil is put in, it will break the fuel injectors?

PD mechanical injectors need oil that disperses sludge effectively. You can do this with special PD oil, or you can simply change the oil every 5,000 miles before sludge starts to develop anyway.
