Should manufacturers do more to prevent car theft?

My 2019 Jaguar F-Pace was stolen from driveway overnight. The keys were in Faraday pouch and I tested it two weeks ago and it prevented the car from being unlocked. I saw the car disappear on video and there was no forced entry. Is there anything I could have done to prevent this? I am buying an immobiliser and fitting electric gates to the entrance. It shouldn’t be necessary for me to buy an immobiliser, the manufacturer should make their cars less easy to steal. What do you think?

It’s a legal requirement for cars manufactured after 1992 to be fitted with an immobiliser, but as technology advances, thieves are using more sophisticated techniques to steal vehicles. To tackle the problem, some manufacturers might choose to offer extra protection measures as standard, but they aren’t legally required to. In addition to electric gates, you could also try old-school techniques to deter thieves. Thatcham approved steering wheel clamps or wheel locking devices are often effective in addition to modern anti-theft technologies.
