Withdrawal symptoms

I've taken your advice and won't deal with a Swedish buyer for my car who wants to pay be bank transfer and have his agent pick the car up. However I am curious to know how the money would be taken back out of my account once it had cleared (as I wouldn't part with the car until it is actually cleared funds in my account). Presumably this can only happen if the money was originally stolen?

No a transfer from a foreign bank is never safe. Police advice is that the funds can be withdrawn at any time. A cheque is now safe after 7 days. A foreign bank transfer definitely isn't. Explained here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/accepting-payments
