Small, tall

I currently have a Meriva Diesel purchased new in 2004. It has done 72k miles with a lot of motorway driving. I had a plan to purchase the new Meriva next year when it will have been in production for a year. I like the look of it and the old Meriva copes well with trips to the tip and also when my 2 adult daughters are with us. My mechanic tells me that the current Meriva is quite rusty inside. We had a problem with the glow plug relay and the connections in there were rusty, as were some bolts when he was working on it. I am therefore looking for a vehicle that can cope with 4 adults and I am thinking of the new Meriva, a diesel Golf or a Nissan Note. I would be grateful for your thoughts.

The new Meriva with its novel rear-hinged rear doors and excellent combination of ride, steering and handling is well worth a test drive. Meanwhile, British built Nissan Notes are good and well proven. British built Honda Jazz manuals are going down well. The Golf VI is nicer with the 1.4TSI 122 engine than with the belt cam 1.6 diesel. The latest contender is the KIA Venga, with a 7-year warranty:
